moest ik even aan iets denken,

Een tijdje geleden kreeg ik van mijn dochter een zeer leuke attentie:

Een chocolade Venus van Willendorf !

After I read an article by Max Dashu (link) about Pornified Goddesses 
I remembered a little present my daughter gave me a while ago:

A chocolate Venus of Willendorf !

Mijn favoriete Godin allertijden…

Want voor mij is dit geen Venus maar een Aardgodin
of ten minste een voorstelling ervan.

Al tijdens de lessen Kunstgeschiedenis op school
was ik gefascineerd door deze Mooie Dame,

Pas jaren later ontdekte ik dat dit beeldje amper 11 cm groot is

Wij zijn zo geconditioneerd door onze eigentijdse culturele beeldvorming,
die ons enkel (reuze) grote beelden voorschotelt
dat we zo’n klein beeldje onbegrijpelijk vinden.

Terwijl ze net door haar afmetingen ontegensprekelijk grandioos wordt.

My most favorite Goddess ever!  For me she obviously represent Mother Earth,
with all her power and majesty, rather than Venus.

I always was fascinated and impressed by this little statue,
as she is only 11 cm tall but Oh so grandiose !

Maar… ik heb een dilemma: mag ik deze chocolade Godin zomaar opeten ?
Of is dit heiligschennis ?
De Paasdagen (of Ostara - link) zijn een ideale cholocade-eet-periode.

Maar... misschien met een klein heidens ritueeltje erbij ? 

But I have this dilemma now:  Can I eat her without being disrespectful ?
We are celebrating Easter today,
so maybe I better do a little pagan ritual while eating her !

Maitrank

Het is vandaag te warm om te breien,

en het Lievevrouwbedstro ofte Galium odoratum staat nu al in bloei

Dus, heb ik vandaag al Maitrank kunnen maken.

Hier is mijn recept, zie blogpost van één jaar geleden  -  LINK

May wine, also known as Maitrank,

is the name of a German beverage that uses aromatized wine as a base.

The base is made by taking sweet woodruff  = Galium odoratum,

sometimes called Asperula odorata.

 My own recipe is very simple, I don’t use any

Brandy , Cointreau or any exotic ingredients.

 Before Sunset I gather 15 to 20 sweet woodruff flowers with some leafs,

I let them dry the whole night and in the morning I pour one bottle of white wine over them, put it in the fridge and by the evening : 

remove the flowers, it’s ready !
